Ways You Can Donate

Your gift today helps Edgewater volunteers train, equip, and respond when every second counts. There are many ways you can give:

One-time gifts

  • Online: Donate online securely at www.edgewatervfd.org/donate. A one-time gift of any amount makes a real difference in training, gear, and life-saving readiness, or you can choose to donate to help build our new fire station.

  • By mail: Please make checks payable to Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Please mail to: PO BOX 236, Edgewater, MD 21037. Please include your name and contact information so we can acknowledge your generosity.

  • Tax note: Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You’ll receive a receipt for your records.

Recurring (monthly) gifts

  • Become a sustaining donor: Set up a monthly gift of any amount you choose (e.g., $5, $10, $25, or more). Your ongoing support helps us plan and respond with confidence.

  • To set it up, visit www.edgewatervfd.org/donate and select ‘recurring’ when making your donation.

  • Where it goes: You can designate your gift to general operations or the new fire station.

  • Benefit to you: Predictable support helps us budget effectively.

Stock donations

  • Why stock can be a smart choice: If you hold appreciated stock, donating may help you avoid capital gains while supporting essential fire and life-safety programs.

  • How to Donate: Please contact treasurer@edgewatervfd.org to obtain our brokerage transfer instructions and your preferred contact details so that we can issue a receipt for tax purposes.

  • What you’ll receive: A donation acknowledgment for your records.

  • Reminder: Consult your tax advisor for specific tax implications related to your situation.

Legacy and planned gifts

  • Bequest in a will or trust:

    • Sample language you can share with your attorney: “I give and bequeath to Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department, [amount or percentage of estate], [address], for the general purposes of the organization.”

  • Beneficiary designations:

    • Retirement plans or life insurance policies can name Edgewater VFD as a beneficiary. This is a simple way to support our mission beyond your lifetime.

  • Why consider a planned gift: It helps secure our community’s safety for years to come while potentially providing tax benefits for you or your heirs.

  • Confidentiality and choice: You can designate gifts as unrestricted or for a specific purpose; you may remain anonymous if you wish.
