Exploring the Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department

Just after 5 pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, multiple 911 calls were received for fire and smoke showing from the rear of a home in the 2100 block of Shore Drive. It was also reported that multiple animals were inside of the dwelling. A heavy pillar of black smoke could be seen in the area. Units arrived on scene to confirm the reports and called for a working fire dispatch. Police were requested for traffic control due to supply line across Mayo Rd. Mayo Rd was closed to traffic for the duration of the incident. Station 2 units were assisted by numerous other departments. The fire marshal, county PIO and rehab units were also called to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time, no injuries reported and condition of the animals of the residence have not been verified at the time of this article.
